SULFUR HEXAFLUORIDE (SF₆) GAS INTRODUCTION

Sulfur hexafluoride is a colorless in-noxious and non-flammable gas at atmospheric temperature with molecular weight 146.06. The density of SF₆ gas is 6.139 g/l (20^oC) and is almost 5 times as much as that of air (1.29 g/l). It is one of the most stable gaseous chemicals and the inertia is similar to Nitrogen gas. With excellent electric insulating and arc-quenching capacity, sulfur hexafluoride gas has been widely used in the fields of electric, laser, medical, meteorological, freezing, fire-fighting, chemical, military, space aviation, nonferrous metallurgy and physical research etc.

Liming Research Institute of Chemical Industry (LRICI) has been researching for the production of sulfur hexafluoride gas since the beginning of 1960’s and she is the first institute making research & develop on the production technique of SF₆ gas in domestic.
LRICI is so prominent in this line in China that the drafting of National Standard (GB12022-2006) for SF₆ gas is made by LRICI.
LRICI possesses the updated electrolyzing, synthesizing, refining technology on the production of sulfur hexafluoride gas and establishes an automatic production installation with production capacity 500 mt/a.
To warrant the inspected results of sulfur hexafluoride gas is accurate and reliable,
LRICI tests SF₆ with the most updated inspection apparatus which imported from PE Company, GE Company and BIO-TAD Company etc

The workshop that produces SF₆ gas establishes the Quality Guarantee System according to the mode of ISO9002 and gets the Quality System Certificate which issued by China
Classification Society Industrial Corporation (CCSI) as well.
Referred to the newest standard of U.S.A the content of moisture in sulfur hexafluoride gas is only 3 ppm (Dew Point - 62 ^oC) which makes our products have more competitive in the line of world.
